Blurb
You’ve been held captive in one room.
You’ve been mentally and physically abused every day since you were sixteen years old.
Then, one night, you realise your captor has left the door to your cell unlocked.
For the first time in eight years you’re free.
This is what happens next.

My thoughts
My thanks go out to avid reader and blogger Gemma Gaskarth over at Between the pages book club for passing her copy of Baby Doll onto me.
This is a wonderful and very gripping debut novel by Hollie Overton that will have you reading late into the night.
Whilst I enjoyed the suspense the storyline gave, there are some 'harder' issues to read about, such as, kidnap & rape.
In my mind, I kept thinking, why have a character like Rick? But.. then, I thought to myself, Baby doll wouldn't be the same without him. He has a brilliant job and is a respected member of the public but what we learn about in this book is that evil comes in all shapes and sizes, no matter what your job title is. It's not Nasty Nick any more, it's Nasty Rick.
I really felt for Lily, given all she's had to endure at the hands of Nasty Rick. I also felt for her family. The family of a missing girl. I'm not one to ramble on so I'll leave it here.
So, would I recommend this book? Absolutely, yes. If you want a book that will leave you on the edge of your seat, looking over your shoulder or maybe just a book so gripping, you just can't put it down, then Baby Doll is your book.
Baby Doll is by far, one of the best books I've read all year so far, I know it's only early days but still. It deserves that spot.
