***BLOG TOUR*** A boy made of blocks by Keith Stuart (19th Jan 17)

My thoughts
Please note, due to the nature of the book and having been in a similar situation, I am not looking for attention or sympathy. I just want to express what this book meant to me.
A boy made of blocks is a very thought-provoking and uplifting tale about a father and his autistic son.
Firstly, to start, for the first half of this book it was slow going and I did feel like giving up. Once I reached the halfway point, it started to pick up and I ended up absolutely loving this book.
I was wrong when I thought it was predictable and boring, it was the complete opposite.
What I liked about the book is that it's based on the authors own experiences with his son.
Alex is struggling to understand his 8 year old autistic son, Sam.
This book reads true to its nature and I completely sympathised with Alex, having been in a similar situation with my nephew it really hit home. Some of the things Sam did really did make me think of my nephew and how he sees the world. To them, I suppose it's like a big mess they don't how to resolve on their own.
Within this book we learn about the coping mechanisms for Sam. Minecraft. What we see to is how Alex learns to understand his son through Minecraft.
It's definitely one that's going to stay with me for a long time. It had its funny moments and definitely had its touching moments, this is a book that will pull at your heart strings and is a book I recommend to everyone.
